Motor Skill Analysis: Round-Off[HRB1]
Preparatory:
- Running start[HRB2]
- On step with the dominant leg, long skip
- Arms raised up[HRB3]
Execution:
- Hands to the ground one in front of the other with the hand of the leg forward down first
- Swing feet overhead
- Handstand position
- Half turn with lower body
- Push off the ground with the hands
- Flex the hips
- Land feet on the ground
Follow Through:
- Land knees bent
- Stand straight up
- Arms up
Teaching cues: High school - Running start, cartwheel, twist, land feet together, and stand
Elementary – Cartwheel, twist, land feet together, and stand
Modified Game Activities:
High school – Emphasize a jump after the landing to progress into a back handspring.
Middle School – Have the student work on moving in a straight line by putting mats out on either side of the student.
