Soccer: Throw In

Skill Analysis #2: Soccer Throw In
Preparatory:
- Face the field
- One foot forward
- Spread the fingers on the side and back of the ball
- Bring the ball behind the head
- Stand tall
Execution:
- Lean back
- Whip the arms and body forward
- Release the ball
- Keeps both feet on the ground
Follow Through:
- Keep both feet on the ground
- Stay behind the line
Cues:
- Spread the fingers
- Ball behind head
- Whip forward
- Feet on ground
High School Lead-up Activity:
Have the students try to successfully throw the ball in to a teammate and then proceed to enter play as the ball enters play.
Middle School Lead-up Activity:
Have the student try to throw the ball in and have it land in a targeted area to score points.
